Summer Preserved
Oil on board, 30 × 30 cm
Summer Preserved was my 2026 entry piece for the Jackson art prize I was honored to make it into the extended longlist with this piece as it means alot, and represents my current skill level as an artist.
This piece itself reflects my connection to the idea of holding onto the freshness and life of summer. The preserved fruit represents the rewards of time, care, and patience, and the ability to enjoy that abundance during the colder months, when the garden is quiet and without colour. The work speaks to remembrance and joy — a way of capturing warmth, light, and possibility, and carrying it forward when the season has passed.
