Stop
Oil on board, 20 × 20 cm
Some places ask nothing of you except to pause.
This little bus stop caught me completely off guard during my 100-mile walk last March. I almost walked straight past it, but something in the glow made me stop. The warmth of the shelter lights spilling out into the cool evening greens and blues, the quiet stillness, the familiar solitude of a place built for waiting.
Bus stops have a strange kind of presence — temporary, in-between spaces where people pass through, but rarely linger. Yet in that moment it felt like the world had slowed down just enough to notice the colours, the contrast, the quiet.
This painting is my attempt to hold onto that moment.
