Jam Or Cream First

A small study of a classic treat. I was drawn to the bold play of reds, blues and greens across the composition, with the strawberries and jam set against the cooler tones beneath.
Painted with thick, generous oil paint, the aim was to capture the creamy, indulgent feel of the scones and toppings—almost as rich as the real thing.
And of course, the important question remains… jam or cream first?
