Breakfast 2
Oil on board, 20 × 20 cm
A simple plate of breakfast, but full of colour.
With this piece I wanted to push the colours I could see in an everyday moment — the rich yellows of the egg, the deep browns of the mushrooms and beans, the cool greens of the avocado — saturating them to bring a sense of life and immediacy to the scene.
Rather than focusing on detail, I tried to describe everything with as few brushstrokes as possible, letting colour and the movement of the paint do most of the work. The shapes stay loose and fluid, allowing the eye to complete the image.
Sometimes a familiar moment — a plate of breakfast — becomes a great excuse to explore just how expressive colour and paint can be.
